The management staff put together this handmade menu for the meet and greet. Even the arrangement is lovely, and there is a certain peace of mind in a house with staff having this much taste.

Let’s have a look at the food. Here we have crackers to eat with whichever dip you prefer. I love avocado so this was irresistible to me.

Next we have shrimp on boiled eggs. I love the broccoli decorated around the plate to make the eggs stand out.

Ms. Sato from the managing company, Uniho, fills everyone’s glass to prepare for the toast.

I wanted in on the cheers but everyone already started drinking. I took a sip of my own beer after everyone else.

Conversation naturally blossoms with delicious food and drink set out before you. All nerves disappear once you gather to eat around the same table.

After eating and drinking for about an hour, the soon-to-be new tenants arrive. Introductions are swiftly heard and a second toast is held for the new lifestyle they are about to embark on.

That is unmistakably miso she has on her outstretched palm.

One party guest has to leave now. “Already?” I thought, then when I looked at my watch I realized that the party had been going on for over 2 hours. Time flies when you’re having fun.

Afterwards everyone helped to cleanup. Living by yourself such a task would be boring and troublesome, but it’s actually quite fun if you chat with someone while doing it.

The party is now over, and contrary to my expectations the tenants break out a bottle of wine and get a photo, as if to say, ‘The party is just beginning.’

Dessert is a chiffon cake with bananas and fresh cream.

I’d been secretly looking forward to this chocolate fondue since before the party had even started. But, before I realized, it had all been eaten. Staring at the leftover chocolate with a sad expression on my face, the girls warmly agreed to do it again and used the rest of the fruit for the fondue.

However, because they had run out of normal chocolate, they decided to melt a chocolate bar that had just happened to be in the refrigerator. This chocolate bar was a banana, strawberry, caramel and almond 4-flavored bar, but we put it all in together. How would it taste…!?

Melting the chocolate made it look like a kind of fruit sauce.

They began to regret putting all of the flavors in together.

After the chocolate melted they dipped the fruit in and… discovered that it was actually quite good! I had some too, but while it wasn’t bad, I can’t say it was that great either. (laughs) We ended by all concluding that “normal chocolate is better.”

This event was held as a meet and greet, however it appears that parties and events are held periodically, so if any of you out there are interested having a great time living with female housemates, please don’t hesitate to contact the house.

I think it’s a good idea to actively participate in these events when they are held because you can get a real feel of what it is like to live in a share house.

By living in a share house you might just begin to enjoy your housemates company instead of spending time off somewhere else by yourself.

Meet new people, talk with others and by doing so find yourself. C'est la vie! Such is what I discovered at Share Vie Ooyama’s party!
