A great living space for people and cats

Share La Cat Komagome is a female-exclusive share house located in a quiet residential area a 10-minute walk from Komagome station on the Yamanote line and Suumo station on the Tokyo Metro Namboku, Toei Mita and JR Yamanote lines.

True to its name, the concept of the house is ‘a share house where keeping cats is possible’. That’s right, you can own a cat here in this house.

I understand there are a lot of people who want to have pets but can’t, and this house has an environment in which people can live comfortably with their cats. There have been many cases with other rental properties in which tenants were told they can have pets, yet were made to pay an exorbitant amount when moving out. This makes tenants feel extremely insecure.

With this house, on the other hand, you don’t need to pay a thing for damages from scratches or any costs to rid the house of the smell of animals, so you can live here with your cat without a care in the world.

There are also many things in the house to help your cat live comfortably which we will introduce in this article.

The exterior.

The brick walls of this building catching your eye is home to Share La Cat Kagome. Formerly a family home, the entrance on the right side leads to the share house for tenants and their cats. The parking space can be used to park bicycles.

The mailboxes have a cute red and white design. There is also a box for parcels should noone be home for the delivery.

Inside the shoe cupboard we find space to store even long boots at the bottom.

Main Lounge

This relaxing area is furnished with simplicity and a calm color-scheme. It’s probably a good idea not to use colors that stimulate the animals.

Cat magazines have also been provided in the magazine rack. I’m sure everyone has seen that famous commercial for ‘Neko no Kimochi’ magazine regardless of whether they like cats or not. Have fun reading these magazines and discussing everything about cats in the lounge here.

Kitchen, Bathroom and Laundry facilities

There is a spacious communal kitchen connected to the lounge. Complete with everything you could possibly need for cooking as well as two large refrigerators.

The red and blue shelving you can see in the middle is space where tenants can store their own personal items such as cooking sauces and spices. Incidentally there is a cat-shaped clock above the shelves. Cats are lurking around every corner in this house. Let’s have a look at the bathroom next.
This pale pink color-scheme should please the female tenants. The mirror is also large and easy to see yourself in. The shower looks kind of like a capsule. Close the curtain when you’re showering to create your own mini bathroom. With the curtain closed.
Those who want to relax a little more can use this bathtub. The tub is a little wider than standard so you can unwind to your heart’s content. Washstand at the back of the 2F living room. There is a toilet as well as a washing machine and dryer. There is also another washing machine on the 3F. This is a spacious toilet with washbasin.

Private rooms

Let’s move onto the private rooms. Each room differs in size so I recommend you come over and have a look yourself. This is Room 301, a comfortable environment with sunlight filtering in from the window.

The shelving along the walls in Room 301 is a ‘catwalk’ for cats. Cats can apparently jump up there even though it is quite a distance from the floor. In Room 201 there is a ‘cat tower’ instead of a ‘catwalk’. This sleeping rabbit is actually a pillow, found in all of the rooms.
This room has its own kitchenette! Recommended for those who love cats and cooking as well. Enjoy cooking up a storm in this spacious kitchen. Room 103 is great for those placing great importance on their private time. Room 101 is smaller than the other rooms, but cheaper too. There is room for storage underneath the bed, so no need to worry about that.

Facilities for cats

This is not just a share house for people, but for cats also, and because of this the house has been made with the comfortability of both humans and animals in mind.

Let’s have a more in depth look.

The catwalk in the courtyard makes it an area just for cats. With the ceiling reaching all the way to the top of the building the cats will end up dozing in the gentle warmth of the sunlight. There’s another catwalk in the corner of this hallway!! You might not realize it immediately but there is also something for cats in here. If you look closely…
… there is a cat entrance built into all of the rooms. You might just get a visit from someone else’s cat every now and again. A screen door has been installed at the entrance so the cats don’t jump out when they feel like it. It’s a folding-type door and can be put away when unnecessary. There is a washing machine specifically for washing cat things, so you can wash them separately from your own clothes.

Managing this house is Tokyo Estate Bank, who take care of share houses under the concept of ‘relaxing environments one looks forward to come home to.’ Share La Cat Komagome shares this concept being a comforting place you just can’t wait to come home to with your cat waiting for you.

The advantages of having cats in a share house are many. Interacting with many cats you grow considerate and cooperate with the other tenants, and if you need to head out you can always ask another girl to mind your cat for you.

This is a share house where not only can enjoy the company of cats, you can share your troubles and worries about raising them with the other tenants and work together to help each other. The cats help to bring tenants together and create a comfortable environment for everyone to live in.

Watching and interacting with cats is an ideal therapeutic lifestyle. But what we are actually doing is gazing on enviously as they live their life aimlessly doing what they please…
